About CW Funds

You might not realize that Complex Weavers is a totally volunteer organization with very low membership dues and no paid employees.

With those dues, a tremendous number of services are offered to members: three issues of the Complex Weavers Journal per year, opportunities to join study groups, biennial Seminars, up-to-date information on what is happening in the weaving world through our newsletter and website, and many other benefits.

CW also has a public mission to share information and encourage curiosity about weaving. We do this collectively through a variety of programmes including: hosting our biennial exhibit Complexity, sponsoring the CW Award at juried shows around the world, rescuing and conserving weaving manuscripts, publishing books and CD/DVDs.

To help us achieve our mission, your donation of any size is welcome: no amount is too small! You may find it easiest to donate online, using paypal, or you may prefer to send a check. Both options are available on our donation page.

If you wish to designate your gift for a specific purpose, there are several funds available:

Complexity Fund

Our biennial exhibit provides members with the opportunity to be juried and gain recognition in the art world, and it helps to fulfil our educational mission by sharing complex weaving with the public. But sponsoring exhibits is expensive! By donating to this fund you are helping to secure the future of Complexity.

CW Library Fund

The CW Library Fund was established in 2023 for donations that support the continuing maintenance, protection and use of the Complex Weavers Library.

Friendship Fund

The Complex Weavers Friendship Fund is for members new or old, who for some reason cannot manage the annual CW dues. Weavers who need assistance can contact the CW Board or their Area Liaison and be assured that their circumstances will be treated with the utmost discretion.

Manuscript Recovery Fund

CW members know the value of historic weaving manuscripts. Sometimes, however, items of interest to weavers may not rank highly on a museum’s list of projects to restore or an institution may lack the funds to make a significant purchase. This fund allows CW to help save precious weaving-related material that could otherwise be lost.

Memorial Fund for Special Projects

The Memorial Fund was established in 2015 to accept donations made in memory or in honor of someone. Project proposals offered by members requesting use of the Fund are then reviewed and approved by the Board. Our 40th Anniversary Book, which commemorates past president Wanda Shelp, is one such project.

Sandra Hutton Memorial Complexity Award Fund

This Memorial Fund was established in 2023 to accept donations made in memory or in honor of Sandra Hutton, who passed away in 2023.  Sandra was one of the founders and the Committee Chair for the first Complexity show in 2012, titled Glamour, Glitter, Glitz.  This fund will be used to make an award in Sandra’s memory at the biennial Complexity show.  By donating to this fund you will be helping to fund this award at Complexity, recognizing excellence in complex weaving.

Sandra Rude Memorial Fund for Advanced Learning

This fund honours Sandra Rude, who passed away in 2020. It has been established by Sandra and her husband Mike to enable a teacher or student to be funded to further their work in complex weaving techniques. More details of this fund are available here.
