Vila Cox started her journey in fiber arts at an early age, embroidering pillowcases before she learned to read. After exploring many types of fiber art, a weaving class was taken in 1997. She joined the Handweavers Guild of Boise Valley in 1998 and first joined Complex Weavers in 2000. Vila completed the HGA Certification of Excellence in Weaving in 2008 with a Level II topic of Multi-Harness Diversified Plain Weave.
Fractured to Never Ending – Transform Drafts using Fiberworks
Interested in creating original weaving drafts? Fiberworks has tools to help make that happen. From transforming an existing draft into something new, to creating an original design from scratch, it can be done with Fiberworks. This Seminar will be a live demonstration of the steps it takes to reduce, expand, fracture, and modify existing drafts in unique ways. Never ending designs can be created, tie-ups changed, and treadlings exchanged to make a draft your own. The demonstration will focus on twill drafts with 16 shafts or more, but many of the techniques are useful for eight-shaft designs. Participants are encouraged to bring their own laptops to create drafts as they follow along. A basic working knowledge of Fiberworks is required.
This session will be captured for the Weavers Handshake, CW’s online, on-demand learning platform.
