Carla learned to weave in 2001, and makes textiles using techniques ranging from hand-manipulation to weaving on a 24-shaft dobby loom. She has contributed several articles to the Complex Weavers Journal, and exhibited a piece in Complexity 2024. She particularly enjoys exploring the possibilities of double-weave.
How Shall I Be Complex? Let Me Count The Ways
We will explore how fiber content, color, sett, weave structure, scale, and finishing technique provide a variety of opportunities for creating a complex textile. Examining these properties individually and in combination, we will consider how changing one or more applies to the process of designing complex textiles. [Note: this seminar expands on one given in 2010 with the same title.]
This session will be captured for the Weavers Handshake, CW’s online, on-demand learning platform.
