12=NOTES
13=A disclaimer . . . "Blend Weaves" has not been my favorite monograph in the Bateman series. With few exceptions, Dr. Bateman's samples are too linear for my taste. They might look better in color, but I'm not sure I'd find the structure any more inspiring. That being said, I did try to apply the rules in multiple attempts to design something "pleasing," but kept running into a brick wall of frustration with the results. Everything I created with blocks larger than 10 threads was unsatisfying so I went back to using smaller blocks. I also decided to try them in block substitution with Spot Bronson (Division A: I-A) and Overshot (Division C: IX-C), both of which worked nicely on the computer. In the end, I chose to work with Overshot.
14=
15=Four- and eight-shaft Overshot translate well into 10-thread blocks, as do combinations of Overshot patterns, but for this purpose, it was less daunting size-wise to limit myself to four-shaft Overshot patterns with 20 or fewer threads per repeat. The draft from which these samples are derived is "Small All Over," from "Josephine Estes' Miniature Overshot Patterns for Hand Weaving." I changed the tie-up order and did not treadle as-drawn-in, but the end result looks very similar to the original, just without the long floats.
