The Ecclesiastical Study Group is open to members of all faiths - Christianity, Judaism, Islam, Buddhism, etc. - who are interested in weaving for worship or personal spirituality. Members do not have to be actively involved in making worship related items, just interested. Members with Internet access will be able to communicate via an e-list. The purpose of the group is to foster an exchange of ideas and information regarding this niche topic.
Topics will include:
- Any aspect of the history of vestments.
- Any aspect of faith symbolism.
- Techniques specific to a particular project, such as how a design was conceived and produced.
- Discussions of how one's faith/spirituality affects one's art.
- Reviews of books or articles that would be pertinent to the topic.
Newsletters: Members will be expected to submit one article or weaving draft to either the May 15 or October 15 newsletter. sent via postal mail. Samples may be submitted as a contribution to the newsletter, with the draft.
