"Double Weave" is a study group on double weave with approximately 30 weavers. Most of the group describes themselves as intermediate level double weavers, the rest divide between beginners and advanced. All are enthusiastic! One or two have 4-shaft looms; most have 8 to 16 shaft looms; some have 24-shaft looms; and several have drawlooms.

An important objective is to tackle projects that are of interest to the group and can be studied by all levels of weavers. The group conducts message interchange through a Yahoo Listserv format, but has its own private website for drafts, descriptions, and photographs. Ingrid, as the mentor, will lead discussions to choose projects with guidelines, ideas and objectives for those projects. Two other weavers assist Ingrid by handling the administrative aspects for CWDW.

Weavers need to have access to a computer and online services along with weaving software that can produce drafts in a WIF format. Several members have volunteered to scan samples for those weavers who do not have scanners.

Participants are required to contribute drafts and cloth scans electronically twice a year. Because of the continuous open dialogue between all members of the group we have no formal newsletter. Annually a CD is prepared of the work for that year and submitted to the CW archives

Inquiries about joining the Double Weave Study group should be directed Sheila Carey, ( careys@telus.net).
