The Beads and Interlacements Study Group is dedicated to sharing our knowledge of on- and off-loom beading techniques. This includes constructing pieces entirely of beads such as jewelry and sculpture or adding that special touch to hand-woven garments and accessories. There are two voluntary exchanges per year. One exchange is actual beadwork based on a theme or technique agreed on by the members. Each member who participates will receive patterns with directions for all the exchange pieces as well as an agreed upon number of actual beaded pieces. The second exchange of the year will be an exchange of pictures, worksheets, WIF files, and pattern instructions, as appropriate, again based on an agreed upon theme. Recent exchanges were using beads as pattern weft in tied weaves, beaded handbags, and ethnic beadwork. Anyone interested in beadwork is welcome to join regardless of experience level. Member's abilities range from novice to experienced beading instructors. There is no limit to the number of participants who can join the study group at this time. The group corresponds primarily by email. I encourage anyone interested in beadwork to sign up today. If you have any questions please feel free to contact me at weavingivory@verizon.net
