- Friends I have made and can keep up with
- The wealth of information shared freely given the amount of work required to keep the organization vital. Thank you.
- The CW award
- Workshops
- So far have not availed myself of anything but the Journal. I intend to join a Study Group when I can.
- A feeling of sharing and belonging to a community that exceeds the boundaries of distance
- Ability to link with other weavers on topics for weaving.
- All you wonderful folks who volunteer your time to keep it going!
- Being among very talented and knowledgeable weavers at conference - which I can't benefit from this year as you are all filled up.
- Being in touch with weavers from across the pond
- By joining a study group, I'm "forced" to study a subject I normally would not get involved in, always resulting in learning something new or more in depth.
- Clear focus on weaving excellence.
- Colloquy sounds interesting but I have not attended it. It is important to me that CW is an international group.
- Community
- Comradeship at Seminars. I consider some of these of equal value. On another day I might rate them differently. I've made use of everything, the library the least, but it's a tremendous resource.
- Contact with other weavers
- Contact with other weavers from all over the world. I keep in touch with several people I met at CW seminars on the net.
- CW is very valuable and I think everyone for their hard work and volunteer work!
- Fact that I have contacts to talk to about problems and opportunities.
- For a volunteer organization, this is plenty.
- For the last several years I have not had access to my large loom. I am hoping that once I get my studio set up, I will again be able to participate in a study group.
- Friendships
- Getting to know weavers in other areas
- Haven’t been a member long enough to assess
- Honestly, I don't take full advantage of my membership. But I like to know it's there, and I want to support the organization so it will still be around when I feel ready for it.
- I am happy it exists!
- I am looking forward to attending Seminars for the informal small group gathering of weavers that my friends have described.
- I appreciate the level of professionalism among the board and members. CW has given me access to resources and mentors I would not other wise have.
- I don't really take advantage of anything other than the journal and will probably not renew.
- I enjoy attending the seminars and meeting other Complex Weavers.
- I enjoy the results of others study groups but do not feel I want to devote the time myself. Library and membership directory are not important to me
- I just appreciate the fact that there *is* a Complex Weavers group! I think HGA has been drifting away from weaving over the years and I'm glad there's a group that really focuses on weaving (beyond beginning weaving).
- I like meeting other members of Complex Weavers at the meetings at regional conferences. Please keep this up.
- I wish I could say I've used all that is offered, but I have not had that opportunity yet. But I am continually inspired by what is offered. I thank you for that.
- I would like to attend CW seminars and would be more likely to do so if they were not always linked to Convergence, which I cannot afford to attend, and is rarely held anywhere nearby.
- I would not be willing to pay more for color photos in the journal when you can post this on the web. Especially since I thought I would be able to attend a bi-annual conference to advance my weaving skills as a member and because I can't commit 6 months in advance, got closed out of being able to attend the conference. I can't see paying more for something I can't benefit from in all its member offerings. To think that it is four years from the last conference I attended is difficult, especially since I live in a place where that is only one other weaver and the nearest guild is about 2 hours away (one way driving).
- If this were on a larger scale, say 1 - 20: study groups would be 1, journal, and website (for the color journal pictures) would be 10 & 11, library 15, seminar 16 (loved it, but only been to one), membership directory 20. For me the Study Groups are by far the most valuable part of CW.
- I'm not really aware of the website and what it has to offer and haven't really seen it referred to in the Journal. I think you could give it a higher profile if it has good information out there. I will check the site out this afternoon.
- I'm not sure about this ranking. I wouldn't want to lose any of them. So I ranked based on my "usage".
- In the journal I appreciate all the information on structure, the technical aspects of weaving not covered in other weaving publications.
- It is being able to stay in touch with weavers, the level of skills which is encouragement to study and try new things.
- It keeps me updated as to what is going on and information regarding weaving
- Just knowing that there are other people out there with my interests
- Lack of thrusting commercialisation
- Like Charles Baudelaire said (19 century) Bien que j'ai le coeur à l’ouvrage, l'art est long et le temps court" = Even loving what I am doing, the art is long and time short"
- Love seeing photos of special weaving on the website. The more the better - great inspiration.
- Making friends with same interests
- Meetings arranged by our state representative. And I give the library a 6 only because I've never used it, not because it isn't fabulous.
- Members
- Members--interactions
- Mostly the friendly sharing of information! This is an awesome group!
- My answers above are a bit jaded, as I have not been weaving the last few years due to work and health. But will get back to it this fall, not running for office this fall.
- My friendship and help with other multishaft weavers
- Networking, friendships
- Since I do the website, please take my answers with a grain of salt.
- Still thinking about joining a study group--time a factor for me right now. All the factors are about equal importance to me.
- That intangible experience of "meeting" others interested in the same esoteric (according to the rest of the world) subjects I like.
- That it is member-directed, and that everyone is a volunteer.
- The camaraderie and group interchange. I value that complex weavers offers complex, more involved topics beyond Handwoven.
- The connection with other like-minded weavers and the challenge to continue working and sharing. Numbering the list above was difficult as I consider all of these items important pieces of the same goal.
- The connections to other weavers. The Journal is important. Don't need it in color as we can see the color items on the website.
- The efforts of the volunteers to do the job.
- The (usually) high quality of the articles quality
- The fact that it still is a relatively small group makes it very friendly and supportive!
- The group in the Seattle-Tacoma area has quarterly meetings, which I find very inspiring.
- The heavy cover and interior pages paper is excessive. Chose the reasonable way and the savings would allow a page or two of color. We don't have to have color throughout.
- The information in the Journal is excellent and of a high standard. As I can't attend the seminars or access the library, this is very important to me and THE reason I am a member. Unfortunately I have little time at the present to be part of the study groups.
- The inquisitive nature of CW members when it comes to stretching the boundaries of weaving! Study group information, seminar leaders and the articles in the journal are at a level of thought and weaving practice found no where else.
- The inspiration I get to start weaving again and do some innovative work.
- The interaction with other "Complex Weavers" is very important to me!
- The level of expertise of members; seriousness about projects; opportunity to learn.
- The open and friendly tone between the weavers. We can all learn from each other
- The opportunity to meet and experience weaving instructors so that workshops and programs can be brought to Guild members unable to travel.
- The people and their willingness to share and not be judgmental.
- The people you meet. They are the most important
- The really neat logo.
- The willingness to share information. No stuffiness
- The wonderful leadership of the study groups
- The wonderful people that ARE 'Complex Weavers'
- The love for the art of weaving.
- The wonderful spirit of shared experience and expertise
- This is a problem for me to answer because in theory I value the Journal highly but in practice it is a problem as it takes a long time to come - in fact I let my earlier membership lapse because it sometimes didn't turn up at all and it didn't seem to be possible to fix the problem.
- Usually only use journal and website
- Was there a book put together of various drafts that people had sent in?
- With Handwoven aiming at beginning weavers (i.e. four shaft), CW fills in with more information for higher shaft weavers.
- I think the website could be #1. So many weavers connect via the web.
