Complex Weavers - All Weavers Welcome!

NewSeminar 2008: download a pdf of Supplies and Fees, or view Supply List the web page.

New Election Results President: Amy Norris; Vice-President: Wendy Morris.

New Journal Mailing The last two Journal mailings have seen a large increase in the number returned to us. Because Complex Weavers is a non-profit organization and the Journal is bulk mailed in the U.S., forwarding is not handled as for first or second class.
If you relocate, even if only for part of the year, without telling the Membership Chair, it costs CW $5 to receive your returned Journal and send it to you 1st class. The Post Office does not forward bulk mail.
Please e-mail the Membership Chair, Frances Alcorn, at alcorn@nwlink.com and she will update your information.
Your prompt attention to these situations will help keep our mailing costs down as well as save our volunteers' time and effort.
For details, see Bulletin Board

All of the CW Library is now listed in LibraryThing. You can search from here without leaving the CW Website

The index for CW Newsletter/Journal for issues 1-85 (through October 2007) is available in pdf format! Download your copy here.

Seminar 08 info and registration form are here! Click Seminars 2008 to get downloadable versions. Also there is a list of the seminars which are already full and links to download or view the needed materials or fees.

This month's showcase

Star and Flower Hearts

Star and Flower Hearts by Ivy DeHart

Since in many countries around the world, Mother's Day is celebrated in May, this month we showcase Star and Flower Hearts in Two-tied Weave, by Ivy DeHart.

Ivy writes:"I chose this weave structure because "...Tied weaves allow for big bold designs without sacrificing structural soundness. They also give areas of sharp value and colot contrast. I like the design freedom of having many pattern shafts to use with the tied weave as well. The backdrop lines linking the stars together helped to balance the value and proportion of the overall design and create what I think is a softer country look.
"DeHart is a wonderful last name; and hearts are found everywhere in the old patterns.
"I studied the design elements from several different tie-ups in American Star Work Coverlets... "...in another design woven on the same warp and threading ... the draft and a picture are posted on www.handweaving.net ... in honor of Ralph Griswold..." Warp:10/2 Tencel in white
Pattern Weft: 10/2 Tencel in dark Persian Red doubled
Tabby Weft: 10/2 Tencel in Rose Pink

This work was part of an article featuring work by members of the Complex Weavers Study Group: Twenty Four More or Less The article was published in the February, 2008 issue of Complex Weavers Journal
