Journal Mailing
The last two Journal mailings have seen a large increase in the number returned to us.
Because Complex Weavers is a non-profit organization and the Journal is bulk mailed in
the U.S., forwarding is not handled as for first or second class.
If you relocate for part of the year, the post office will forward ONLY your 1st and
2nd class mail. This results in any such Journals being returned to us. We are charged
1st class postage for the return and when remailed to the member this must be done as
1st class. The cost difference between the bulk mailing and 1st class is over triple
the amount. For the last mailing the bulk cost per Journal was 71 cents while
1st class cost $2.50. If you want your Journal on a timely basis, you must let
Membership know when you are forwarding your mail and let Membership know when you
return home.
The same situation occurs if you move and have not informed us of your new address.
Please e-mail the Membership Chair, Frances Alcorn, at
alcorn@nwlink.com
Your prompt attention to these situations will help keep our mailing costs down as
well as save our volunteers' time and effort.

If you recently received what looks like the February Journal, it is really the October Journal in the wrong cover. The correct cover for the Journal for October is being mailed (at the printer's expense - it was his error) to everyone. Click cover85.pdf to download an advance copy

The TIME HAS BEEN EXTENDED for the CALL FOR ENTRIES - HAND WEAVING IN THE COMPUTER AGE
Because of problems with Laurie Autio's e-mail, the time limit has been extended to about July 22nd, 2007.Posted Thursday, July 01, 2007
CALL FOR ENTRIES - HAND WEAVING IN THE COMPUTER AGE
Complex Weavers is delighted to be having a gallery exhibit, entitled "Hand Weaving in the Computer Age," at Convergence 2008 in Tampa, Florida.
Pieces should showcase complex weaving, but do not need to have been designed or woven with computer aid, or on any particular number of shafts. Anything from finger-manipulated weaves on a backstrap loom, kumihimo, and passementerie to drawlooms and jacquard weaving is eligible. Work must be original, have been completed in the past two years, and not been shown at Convergence before. We especially encourage bright, colorful pieces that will show well in the sunny Florida climate, but all colors are welcome.
Unfortunately our deadlines are very tight. In order to reserve space we need the following
information by JULY 15th, 2007:
1) Two photos of your piece(s), one of the full piece and one close-up (digital or paper)
2) Dimensions
3) Any Special Hanging Requirements
